Default why am i getting 8.5 mpg???

So I have a 2003 2500 with the 5.7l hemi. It's got a 3in lift with 35 12.5 ditto mud grapplers. I feel like I should be getting better mpg I drive it like a grandma and still dpes get any better.

I'm throwing a evaporitve emmitions leak could that be my problem?

You have a 345 hp gas engine in a 3/4 ton truck, which is lifted and has more rotating mass from the larger wheels and tires.. 8.5 might be a little low, but I would not expect much more than 10 out of something like that.

The 1/2 ton's from that year were rated at 11/15 city/hwy stock. The 3/4 ton's would have probably been just a little less, say 10/14, add the lift and big tires, and you are probably not too far off for city driving. I would expect on the highway you would get 11-12, but not much more. A regear would help get some of your economy back, and would make your speedo accurate again.

Ok thanks. I did not know they were rated with such low mpg. I'm interested to see what the intake and exhaust does for it

why is this, in the nineties, a cai and a better flowing exhaust would give you better fuel economy and some noticeable power gains. these days you can still get the parts but with only "negligible" results? tks steve

Intake and exhaust gave me worse mileage cause it sounds sooo damn good .....and like the others u got a 2500 hemi with mudders and a lift.....sick truck tho buddy i wanna put 33s on my 1500 this summer but with risiing gas prices idk if thats the smartest idea.
