Eco light will always come on when you let off the throttle because you're in the most economical driving when you don't have your foot on the throttle right?

I asked my guy this same question 6 months ago, and without hesitation, he explained in much greater detail what I mentioned in my first post.

Thanks for the replies guys...it doesn't bother me but my tranny guy told me when he rebuilt the transmission in my classic car not to down shift it without load because it's not good for the transmission so I just wanted to make sure this was normal for these new style trannies....

I have noticed my 07 does this as well. It has continued to to do it after I installed my Superchips and disabled the MDS along with switching to Superchips shift schedule. I am assuming that it is just normal.

tbh i've not noticed as i live atop a mountain and drive down the hill
so most time its in 3rd to stop me wearing the brakes out as permantly breaking to stay in the limit for 7 miles many times aday isnt great lol.

and if its just in drive, its so steep i'll just accelerate.

Funny, 69 views of this thread and only 2 replies form 4th Gen owners (Not to leave you out Charlie but I see you own a 2004 but I appreciate your input). So of the other 66 views..either none of them were 4th Gen owners or none of them drive their truck? A simple "Mine does the same" or "mine does not" would have been nice.

But the "Do you have a hood light" thread has 4 pages!!!! I don't know if that's funny or sad......
Or maybe nobody felt like replying because it's common sense that a truck downshifts.

i hope you realize that people OTHER than 4th gen'ers read posts that may not own a 4th gen, but see the same kind of issue... LIKE ME!! i don't own one, but my wife's TnC does KINDA the same thing (but only on "cruise"). ticks me off. soo i just kick off cruise on steep hills and problem solved.

Your thread interested me, so i read it. Hope that doesn't cause much consternation amoung the masses.

None of them have anything extra to add to what's already been stated, it's normal. I've read somewhere here that the downshift is part of the economy programing in the 4th GEN truck.

Mine does it also. No other truck i've had have I been able to notice it like this truck. Both me and my neighbor have commented on it and that neither of our trucks coast very well. My opinion, poor coasting=poor gas milage also.
