Default going to add fuel and a match if i cant fix this problem.

Well Ive been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this trucks problem out. It runs really rich and gas miliage is severely off. It idles really rough if at all and anywhere between idle and 2000 rpms is rough and seems to have a miss after 2k itll smooth out. yesterday i took it for a very short ride and had the gas pedal to the floor and it only revved to 3k rpms. the trucks and 01 with a 5.9l 4wd .

The only code im getting now is P1282 but ive swapped fuel relays and im getting the same voltage at the pdc as is in the battery in the 30 and 87 port. Im just going to list what ive done and checked. fuel pressures at 45 psi, new timing gears and chain set, recent plugs, wires, cap and rotor, intake and plenum gasket set, new coil, new map sensor, new iac. Also the head gaskets are good and not burning oil and theres no vacume leaks. I tried replacing the ecm with a new one but the one i got was garbage and give me error p0601 which is internal controller failure. Its being sent back tom. My old pcm is only giving me the one p1282 code now after changing all those other sensors.

It has spark on all wires but seems to be loading up causing idling issues. the idling issue gets progessively worse the longer it runs. The cat seems to be fine, no rattling and there is a good amount of exaust flowing out. Its almost as if the injectors are just always shooting in gas. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the fuel filter? Maybe you have a partially clogged filter. What about the fuel pump? Could it be running intermittent. But if that was the case I guess your fuel pressure would drop.

Don't know if this will help. Good luck.

Have you checked the throttle TPS ? Sometimes that causes some crazy stuff with the way a vehicle runs. Have you checked for vacumme leaks as well?

Well i left the truck alone stepped away from it for a week and I think i've found the problem. Im pretty sure that i either have bad head gaskets or a cracked head. I pulled the #8 plug and it was soaked with coolant just basically looked like a huge drop that covered the entire plug. This was the first time i encountered that yet theres still nothing in the oil. so guess i just need to tear it down and find out what needs to be replaced.

you can never be too sure that your cat is not clogged, ive come accrossed this many times and it was a clogged cat. the origional cats on these if it is origional arent very good lets just put it that way.
BEAT the crap out of it with a hammer and dont be nice about it either then take it out and floor it a couple times see where that gets you.

plus there is no fuel filter on these trucks its internal on the pump so you cant change them.

I had a problem with my 99 ( 5.9 4wd ) that was driving me nuts. When I would first start it, it would run great. But then as it warmed up, I would have to throttle it up to about 2k on the tach. Once the temp guage got up to normal operating temp, I could let off the throttle and it would run fine. If I tried to run the truck before that, forget it. I replaced everything coolant related, it was due, and the O2 sensor before the cat (upstream). Pretty sure it was the O2 sensor that fixed the problem. Maybe try that.
