LCC Chrome Hemi is on a distinguished road
Default EMP conversion kit

Howdy All,

I just got done reading a great book called "One Second After" (cited on the floor on Congress as a book all Americans should read). It is about how America gets brought to it's knees at the hand of EMP attacks. Has anyone out there had a chance to read the book and thought about how the hell we would get our trucks going after an attack. ( And EMP erases ALL electronic's).

It seems with all the new electronic componets these Ram's would be DOA after an attack. Anyone thought of making a EMP conversion kit to sell? Would you just need a lead hood liner for prevention? What about the dashboard? I know getting gas would be problematic.

I hope this never happens and I am laughing at myself for posting such a question. Just curious if I am the only one on this board who has thought of this?

ok.. Here's the deal. you have to make the vehicle basically a big cage to "divert" the EMP around the vehicle to protect it. it costs way too much to protect a vehicle from it for the common citizen. i've worked with gear that was "supposedly" EMP-proof. it sux. as an example... we had a laptop that probably weighed 15-20lbs and it was slow as SH^&!! we didn't use it for very long because it just slowed us down too much and there really wasn't much need for a laptop that wouldn't be used since everyone around it would probably be smoked. sooo if that gives you any idea on how rough it is trying to protect something from EMP. pretty much, if WW3 happens, we're all walking unless you go back to the ole West.

That's why you keep an old simple pre-1972 car or truck around. Carbureted, points ignition, as simple as it gets.

Got such an old RAM over in the auto graveyard. A new carb and it should be good to go.

as long as you can find VRs, batteries, and any other electrical parts to replace the ones that just smoked.

My backup vehicle is a Case 580B Construction King Tractor. Diesel and mechanical. The only thing the battery is for, is the starter motor. May not be fast, but when all the other vehicles are parked, it'll appear lightning fast.

I'd do what I can to protect the computer and have a copy of my stock program stored on a programmer that is also shielded.

Guess you could save a spare PCM and TCM (I have an 03) in a protected spot or box, then just install them afterwards.
