Default MADS Smarty Jr. J-06 03-07 Dodge Ram Cummins 5.9L Diesel

The more I read about this programmer the more I'm leaning towards in trying it out. I was wondering if there's anyone here that has this particular model installed in their 05 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4? My truck is 100% stock no engine modification at all. Any info you guys can provide is greatly appreciate.

When I had my diesel and was doing research on various chips I heard excellent things about the Smarty also. I don't think you can adjust the Smarty "on the fly" as you can with some other chips. If you stay below about 80-90 hp gain you will probably not harm your automatic trans or turbo however if you plan to increase your hp by much more than that you will need to look at a new turbo and do some work to your trans.(Goerend Trans) If your truck is presently stock, you probably will want to increase your air intake(AFE is good) and increase your exhaust output(different muffler or maybe a 5" system). Also a good set of gauges is a must--Boost, EGT's and if you have an automatic you will need a trans temp gauge also. One other thing I did just to be safe, was install an extra fuel filter/water seperator between the tank and the stock fuel filter--just in case. Water and the injector system on cummins don't get along very good and it can get real expensive real fast if you get some water in your fuel. Good luck and have fun!

According to Smarty Company (MAD) that they tested their product on totally stock truck and they found it very safe. I only want the programmer to save on fuel and also to give me a little more horsepower when I pull my Travel Trailer. I'm really don't want to replace anything else. So is Smarty JR good for my purpose or should I get the big Daddy... Thanks.

The Smarty Jr. should do the job.

The junior is perfect. Its a good mix of value and options. I was like you, I wanted more without breaking the bank and/or my truck. Best choice on the market as far as I'm concerned. They are also willing to answer any questions you have....I warn you though ....more power is very addictive!
enjoy...
Mike...

Go with the Edge Juice with Attitude, you get all the gauges with the system and like 160hp which is all you want for a stock truck, I run mine on level 3 which is like 90 hp and still get 20mpg's.
Plus the edge will back down the fuel if your tranny slips or the egt's get to hot.
Its a little pricey but worth it in the long run....

Let me know if your interested I have connections with edge and can hook you up..

Good luck..... Jetmoto

I've got the bullydog... it does produce a lot of power, but I'm worried about the same things as you. I do not want to toast my tranny. I'm thinking about going with the edge for the same reason as the PP said. It gives you the guages.
