Default Superchips vs. Diablo

Looking for a new programmer and have seen many good things about superchips(flashpaq/cortex) and diablosport (predator/trininty), was going to see if i could get some reviews or opinions on both and see which programmers people were liking the most and which were getting the best results.

I would say that this board has a pretty ravenous Diablosport following, Predator particularly. I have to admit that the mass of favorable reviews have convinced me to go that way, so take that for what you will...

Depends on your application. If a tuner is your only mod then superchips will work fine. If you plan on doing any other mods I'd go with diablo because you can creat custom tunes for your particular setup...

I am new to mods, I just got a new 2011 Ram 1500 and looking to boost its performance mainly on the mpg side of things. How much does one need to know before jumping into chipping my truck?

I run two HEMI powered vehicles and both have the DiabloSport Predator loaded on them. With respects to the truck, I just went with the 91 CAI Octane tune with a few tweaks specific to the truck. Combined with a cold air intake (AFE) and an aftermarket exhaust (Magnaflow) my highway mileage improved 4+ mpg. Around town it improved 3+. I suppose it would be even better if (1) I cruised at 65 vs. 75, and, (2) if I kept my foot out of it around town.

As far as HP and torque improvement, take a look at my Ram Mods link below, go to page 2 and take a look at the dyno sheets for some results of before and after the Predator install.

I also have one on my 300 SRT8 with a custom tune stacked on top of it. It became a sideways beast....just the way I like it....

There is no Predator or Trinity available for the 2011 HEMI truck but they are working on it.

What I like the best about the DS products is their flexibility as you modify your vehicle and the tuning options. It will hold multiple tunes (in addition to your stock tune) so you can select a tune for your specific driving needs at the time.

So, if I've gone on too long, well that's how it is. I appreciate tools that work and the DiabloSport programmers work really well.

I have a diablo, second one Ive used, I had one on my Charger. They are easy to use, great customer service, and you can save custom tunes after you get deeper into your mods, hell yes!! Its IMO the best for anything Mopar.

I had the Diablo on my Charger Daytona & thought the shifts were still soft so going the Superchips rout on my Ram.

Diablos tranny tuning sucks! I'm changing to Superchips tomorrow. Love the tun-ability of the Diablo but tranny shifting is slow and soft for my taste.

maybe try an SCT custom tune stacked with the SC3865 advanced trans tune. I may look into this shortly after the article in hotrod mag this month.
