Default dashboard rattle

I'm not sure if this will help others but I finally found my rattle that I have lived with for far too long. While I was driving my rattle would sound like it was coming from the passenger side but if I leaned to the passenger side it would sound like it came from the driver's side. Turns out it was a clip in behind the ceiling right above the left bracket for the passenger sun visor. I just had to push up with a little force and it clicked into place. If you sit backwards in your seat and look up at the top of the windshield check that the gap between the ceiling material and the windshield is the same all the way across if it is not then there is probably a clip that is not in place. Hope this helps other people as well.

Any further thoughts on this topic? MY 2010 has a rattle that seems to be wind turbulence related. If I go over rough road no rattle however, as soon as I hit 45 mph or higher on the highway the mysterious passenger side rattle appears. It also sounds worse when there is a cross or head wind. A slight vibration is felt in the passenger side floor board that seems to coincide with the rattle. Is there a plate or shroud of some sort that can be hitting the underside? I am going nuts!!

Yeah... add me to this list as well. The rattle didn't rear it's head until around the 12K km mark, and it is definitely located from the dash. It also only seems to occur around the 1500 to 200 RPM range. From what I've read on this thread, it sounds like it may be one of those clip instances.

VERY annoying!

I have the same issue on my brand new 2012 one. It's very annoying and stops when you keep pressure on it. I tried to punch it but it doesn't seems to help. Anyone knows how to fix it ?

I have had this same "rattle" noise for a while. More noticible when the temp is cooler. It sounds like it is coming from above the driver's side speaker on my truck. Pushed down on the dash above speaker and noticed that the foam under the windshield also moved when I pushed down on the dash.

I wonder if when I go over bumps if the foam is rubbing on the inside of the windshield.

Looking for any input if this could be the issue or if anyone has located the exact problem. I have tried other suggestions in the is thread but no luck.

Thanks

I found and joined this forum searching for a cure for the passenger side rattle on my 2012 Ram. I happy to make my first post one that will hopefully help some of you rid yourselves of the mind numbing rattle that so many seem to suffer from.

Mine started rattling at about 400 miles. It drove me insane that a $41K truck had such a rattle. Like the rest of the posts I've read I felt it was coming from the dash. It ended up being my hood! Driving down a bumpy road I decided to pop the hood (while driving) to see what happened and the noise completely went away.

To fix it I simply adjusted the rubber hood bumpers up on the front support, sprayed some graphite grease on the hinges and that did the trick! It's odd to me that the sound traveled into the cabin as it did.

I hope this helps someone out there. This is a great site!
