Default 5.7?

Can't decide if I should do nitrous on my truck. I'm getting mixed signals. I figure if I keep it turned low and rarely use it it shouldn't do to much damage. Plus its a lot cheaper than the supercharger. I have a diablo predator, CAI, and exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do want to keep my motor running good and not have to rebuild it.

there are a couple of guys here runnin NO2 without any problems. I'd suggest nothing higher than a 75hp wet shot.

Agreed, running N2O is perfectly safe if you keep it reasonable and purge the line everytime before use. Running a 75-100hp on a stock motor is well within the handling capability of the engine.

What do you mean by purging? I'm looking at the Zex system and it hooks to my gas pedal and activates when open. I wanted to mount it under my truck.

have you ever seen cars line up for a 1/4 mile run and before they launch you see a gas shooting up into the air right in front of the front window or front bumper. that is the driver "purging" the NOS line.

here's an example:

So do I just hook the purger (not sure if thats the technical term) to a switch to purge it? I'm new to the nitrous thing if you can't tell.

I haven't priced it in a while so I could a little off but to do a nitrous setup "correctly" you'll end up spending about $1k.

NO2 kit
purge valve
window switch
remote bottle opener (depending on where you mount the bottle)
bottle warmer (depending on where you live and how cold it gets)

am I forgetting anything?

I run a 75hp shot through my 04 and its fine. Eventually i will go up to a 100hp shot but thats as far as i will take the stock motor. If you rarely use it you should be just fine. If you look at the wet kit jetting thread i have pictures of the way my kit is setup under the hood.

The Terminator with the dual purge through the snakes are awesome!!

I've run 100/125 shots alot... you can go as much as 150 and still be ok, anything over and you should reinforce internals.. agree with others and install a purge solinoid, it's insurance to make sure you bleed any air out of system..
