Default New Head Unit

Thanks to all of the informative information on this forum, I'll be swapping the head unit on my Ram tonight. I should get my harness package from Crutchfield today (UPS says so anyway). I am putting in a Sony XAV-60 that I got on a clearance from Best Buy ($250!). I already had a visor clip bluetooth, so that is no big deal.

If anyone has any "gotcha's" from previous experience with this unit, please let me know.

I have the C2R-CHY4 coming in from Crutchfield as well as an antenna adapter and a bezel kit - all recommended by their tech staff.

I'll send pics!

Default Video Question

OK, I am going to bypass the parking brake thingy, by grounding the green cable coming from the head-unit harness, and then I have a red/white coming from the C2R-CHY4 that is for the parking brake as well. I guess I ground this lead also?

I am trying to keep the grandchildren entertained on long trips - first one this weekend....

Thanks in advance!

I think you will need a bypass unit. Look at the link bellow. I used a different one for my Pioneer unit but same concept.

Well, the install went OK, I guess. The finished product looks great. I had to dremel the metal frame (hint: get the dremel attachment that makes it a flex shaft, trust me on this). I also had to cut the plastic on the front opening. My box knife actually did a good job on this. Without cutting the plastic, the HU was sitting about 1/8 inch too low.

I love the radio (who cares if the album art is a little slow? its the MUSIC that counts).

BTW, grounding the green wire from the harness that plugs into the HU bypasses the parking brake requirement for the DVD player. My wife will really enjoy that when we set out on a 13 hour trip early in June.

Nice job!!! I had to cut the metal frame too on my install, I tried to bent it but didn't work, and had to trim the dash also, lots of work. Can you post some pics of your install?
