Default Question about cold air kit, throttle body upgrade, and header question

2008 RAM 1500 5.7L Hemi

Does upgrading the size of the throttle body offer better performance? How easy or hard is the task?

How much does a Cold Air Kit improve the performance of the engine? With the price of gasoline rising - does it make "cents"?

I know that when a engine inhales and exhales better the engine performs better. So does anyone recommend headers and a new exhaust system?

I'd recommend a larger TB only if you were to do head and cam work. It's not gonna help a stock engine.

A cold air intake, coupled with a freer flowing exhaust, will make your engine more efficient. Add a programmer and now you can take advantage of the potential inherent in the "Big Three" mods, better tuning with more air in and more air out.

Headers will get you a bit of improvement.

Take a look at my Ram Mods link below, go to page two and you can see what stock compared to adding a programmer with an exhaust already on the truck can get you.

Since I have done the intake/exhaust/programmer mods, my MPG's improved, up 3+ highway MPG and up 2+ around town.

^^ I agree with Maddog, I did the "1st Three", CAI, Exhaust and DS Predator, and gained roughly 2-3 MPG.. and now it sounds and runs stronger too.
