Hey everyone I have a 94 RAM with a 5.9 and it won't start.
I had a loud hissing noise coming from the iac before it stopped running so i replaced the iac and now it won't start I have spark and fuel pressure at the rail. Any ideas?
I know for fact a ram will NOT start with an unplugged crank sensor. When I swapped trannys a while back I forgot to plug mine back in and when I went to start er up it was like... seriously WTF... "OOPS". The wires are sorta close to each other back there so ya never know. The crank sensor is the one that is a super PITA to get at on the passenger side bell housing by the trans dip stick. The wire should be a good 12-18" long tho to go to the connector on the harness.
I don't think a bad IAC would keep the vehicle from starting as long as u put a little gas into it while you crank it over, the IAC is there to bypass the throttle plate via computer control to let more or less air in. So your foot can accomplish the same thing on start. A bad IAC will cause it to run like ass though. But she should still fire. Of course its a bit more complicated than that... but that's basically all it does. Someone correct me if i am wrong but i HAVE started my ram with the sensor unplugged a few times while trouble shooting so...
I replaced my coolant sensor because it was dumping fuel due to the connector being broken, all my plugs were soaked in gas, so I replaced all the plugs, and I still can't get the truck to start. Only time it even attempts to start is when the throttle is completely open. I can actually get it to run for a minute if I unplug the fuel pump relay and spray throttle body cleaner into it. any ideas?
