Default LSD Differential

I was doing a rear differential service on my 02 1500 with the 3.92 LSD rear last weekend and I noticed one of the retaining clips had broken off which seem to be common with the LSD's. My question is what will happen if I don't replace this? Will I just not have a LSD or will it ruin my rear? I removed the clip and the fluid was silvery and I didn't see any metal shavings in there. I plan on replacing all the clips I just don't know how soon I can do it. Also anyone know where to get the clips? Do I have to go through mopar? Thanks.

the clips are important they keep things from moving around and wearing out carrier and other parts.you can still drive it. may last 1 month may last 5 years but then you will need to replace everything not just 20 dollar clips from dodge.you may also need to replace axle seals at same time when you do the clips can be labour intensive.but your lsd(clutch packs) rear will still work as it should until everything gets sloppy and something breaks also what might happen if ur rear locks up at 55 mph on highway?
