FYI- Most dealers will give you "jobbers" pricing. It varies with individual parts but I can say that I just bought the Mopar CAI for $376.00. That is cheaper than I was able to find it anywhere else. I often went straight to Ford for parts on my F-250 and was able to beet most aftermarket prices. Be friends with the parts guy and you can usually get a fair deal. Hell take him a box of donuts. If he gives you 5% off a $100 its worth the donuts.

I guess I'm lucky, because I buy my dealer parts through my service manager and at the very least they knock off tax, and on larger items I get the parts for employee cost.

I agree though, the cost of dealer parts is crazy high! I remember trying to buy rock guards for my Wrangler's fog lights and them wanting like $100 each for those cheap plastic guards!

Most dealer parts markup is 40%. Ask them for a lower price and most of the time you will get it. As for warranty, if the dealer says a CAI caused trans failure and voids warranty, he doesn't have to prove it did, remember he can refuse to repair it and you have to sue and prove the CAI did not cause trans problems. Can you afford that, I can't. Also be weary of dealer installed performance parts, even if Mopar, another dealer may not warranty because it is not factory. Remember you have a factory warranty, not a dealer warranty. Seen that happen.

Maybe it's just a "dealer" problem and you can shop around. The dealer I purchased from charges 100%+ mark-up over MSRP on most parts and after talking with service for 30 seconds I knew I wouldn't leave my truck with them. The dealer I use for servicing now is great! All parts are sold at MSRP in the book and they offer to install any aftermarket piece I buy if I choose to save even more buying online or elsewhere.
