Cool speedometer issues!?

Hi All!!

My speedometer has a mind of it's own, occasionally it will work fine, but most of the time it is clocking twice the speed or pegged at 100 mph. Two weeks ago it started jumping around and the tranny was shifting up and down along with it, I replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor (no cable...all electric) and it was fine for a week, last week it started pegging out at one hundred as soon as I turned on the ignition. Last night it started working fine again

It's about to drive me crazy! Anyone have similar issues?....any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Norm

BTW, it's a '91 Ram B350, 360 ci, 4 speed automatic with electronic overdrive

I took my speedo out of the cluster and put it all back together and now it dont bounce around. The only thing I figure is it wasn't getting a good connection somewhere.

Replaced Speed sensor on drivers side of transmission tail shaft section and it stopped the speedo going crazy.. I have a 90 B350 WITH 318 CONVERSION VAN. Part was under $50.00 and it cured the surging. PCM needs to know the speed the tranny is working at to adjust the speedo on dash..
Hope this helps..
