Unhappy Pass. floor wet after mild rain

96 club cab shortbed

Went out to the truck this morning after we got 1.2 inches of mild rain last night, and the floor board carpet area on the passenger side is wet. Ran my hand around widows moldings and under dash area and not wet. truck was sitting not moving. I know the bottom of my door is rusting and is a little wet. Does it extend out that far to get the carpet wet? Should I go to a body shop and have them replace all the seals on the door and window?

There are a few other things I would ask first, did you notice the wetness before the rain? Has it happened before? The rust around the bottom of the door is an indication of excessive moisture not draining out of the door through the drip vents at the bottom of the door. I would do as you suggested and have a body shop look at the seals, you might also see if you can get a good set of salvage doors and replace them.

On another note, Welcome to the Site. Please use the link in my SIG to drop by our Newbie Checkin and introduce yourself to the rest of us.

Good luck with the doors and hope to see some pics of that truck when you Checkin!

Could be a clog or short drain tube from the HVAC system. I had that happen on a brand new '03 dakota, noticed the pass. floor was all wet took it in still under warranty and they said they had to extend and re-position the drain hose because when the condensation was being drained off it was flowing into the pass. compartment floor... I'd check that first, it would probably be cheapest an easy if it is the problem.....

I'd lean on that HVAC drain solution too ... last year we had the 2nd-wettest year on record, and I had a clogged HVAC drain. Soppy wet carpet on the passenger side all the way to the riser between the front and back seats.
