Default 2011 Ram Exhaust Question

Ok, so I have been researching on this forum now for over almost 2 hours. I got like 3 different answers. I am looking at doing a straight swap of my muffler on my truck. I have a 2011 Ram Big horn with the dual exhaust cut outs. I do understand that it is a 3" inlet. However, I have heard mixed claims as to what the exit size is. Is it 2.5" or 2.25" pipe that leaves the rear. I am looking at just doing a muffler swap in my drive and don't want to have to neck it down or up.

I am looking to get the 24" magnaflow muffler. I just want to get the deep sound and lose the tinny sound that the stock has but not really increase sound except under hard throttle. If anyone has a part # for me on this i would be great.

Thanks

3" inlet, 2.25" outlet. I don't have the part number but if you go to their website look at their product list, find the part number, and then google that part number you can find all the websites that sell that muffler and compare prices. That's what I did with my borla. Took all of 5 minutes...

Thanks for the input. I have really been trying to find the muffler I want but I guess it isn't out there. I was looking to get the 24" body magnaflow however I can only find it with a 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlet. Which would not be a problem, however i was looking to do it in my driveway and not pay a shop.

Thanks for the response.

I installed the Magnaflow CatBack on my 10' Sport
and was under the impression the outlet pipes were 2.5" because that's what the CatBack kit has.

... I guess the stock pipes are 2.25" though, my bad.

You'll love the Magnaflow sound, nice deep rumble at idle,
with that hefty Growl at wide open throttle.

Kit #16869
(5"x11"x22" muffler, no resonators, 5" Polished tips) <click pic for video clip>

Ill find the part number for you tonight after work. I'm pretty sure I saw it when searching for my original exhaust setup

Magnaflow doesn't make a 5x8 body muffler in 24" length with 2.25" outlets.
They do make one with 2.5" outlets, just a little more work. PN 12288
http://www.planetmagnaflow.com/shop/...12288-827.html

Or you could do a 5X11 body in a 22" length with 2.5" outlets PN 12588
http://www.planetmagnaflow.com/shop/...12588-898.html

The 5X8 18" long has 3" in 2.25" out and that is what I have...PN 12278

you can still do it in your driveway..just get an 18" piece of 3" pipe to put in front of your muffler to make up for the shorter muffler. Don't forget the clamps..and it is easier to have a helper because it is a pain in the butt to line up both tailpipes into the muffler because the muffler sits at a twisted angle when finished. Takes about two hours and saves you around $150 from the mufflex cost.

I got a HOOKER Max Flow muffler with 3 inch inlet and 2.25 outlets. Still debating if I want to keep it or get another muffler.

What is the reason that you are looking at another muffler? Too loud, too much resonance, or just don't like the tone of sound from it?
