cyberpine will become famous soon enough
Default who will get their unibody truck to market first

So is Dodge still in the game? Chevy and Toyota have long been flirting with it.

Going to admit their concept did interest me.

Here's what I'm looking for:

- A two door Short Pickup Truck (car length) with a versatile midgate and back seats that quickly opens up into a full truck bed.
- A Truck Bed that when mdigate is down allows for a 4x8 sheet of plywood over a hard corse plastic surface.
- An aerodynamic cab/midgate frame that doubles as a strong roof rack and allows you to carry a 16 foot kayak or 2x4x12 planks on top.
- Secure under bed storage.
- 5000lb towing, 280 HP Rear Wheel drive.
- And Drum roll.... 25mpg TRUE REAL WORLD combined MPG average.

The engine for this is almost here.. We just need a design to FINALLY get to market.

*cough* Ridgeline

Quote:
The Honda Ridgeline is a mid to full size sport utility truck produced by the Japanese automaker Honda. The Ridgeline was released in March 2005 as a 2006 model and is Honda's intended first foray into the North American pickup truck market. Until 2009, the Ridgeline was built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada alongside the Acura MDX, Honda Civic, Honda Civic Si, and Acura CSX. The Ridgeline was awarded Motor Trend's Truck of the Year for 2006. The Ridgeline is currently the only car-based pickup in the United States and Canada. The Ridgeline was shown in concept form as the Honda SUT in 2004.

The Honda Ridgeline uses unibody architecture ladder frame/unibody hybrid chassis. Honda claims this design gives it 2.5 times more bending rigidity and 20 times the torsional rigidity than the standard ladder frame only type of chassis construction, while retaining the load carrying capacity of the traditional ladder frame.

I'd love a true successor to the 97-04 dakota quad cab. a mid-gate would make it perfect IMO.

RWD!

Yes, and the Chevy Avalanche is basically a Tahoe/Suburban type SUV with the back cut open

I was mearly pointing out Dodge wont be the first, and their concept looks too much like a Ridgeline (IMHO), never said I liked it.

I really hope they don't release something like this. It looks absolutely terrible. What they need to do is redesign the Dakota to make it a competitor for the small truck world, similar to the size of the Ranger. Put a decent V6 in it that will get some decent mileage. Possibly an R/T version with a Hemi and a 6 speed for the sporty side. Any heavy towing, they gotta go with the RAM

I'd rather get an SUV than a Unibody truck. I can see the appeal for someone who needs to run over the Home Depot with the kids and all, but it is still no RAM. Price will be a big factor in all of this along with ride quality, comfort, and MPG's. The current picture makes it look like the Bastard child of a Ridgeline and Town and Country.

Unibody would be nice if you want to do a blow through audio setup.
