Man that was nuts! Luckily that wasn't like a fast moving river, so the water so wasn't going anywhere. When it started to get deeper, I think I would have freaked out lol.

Extra Gas to drive through the water - $1.25
Ticket for failing to observe a 'Road Closed' sign (if caught) - $250.00
Getting to wash your truck in that scenery...and while driving - Priceless!

We have sever flooding here, and as of today - Flood of the Century, and expecting 30" more !
I think I may have to 'wash the truck' tomorrow.

Holy crap Brad, that does sound bad! I know they just opened one of our spillways here today because of the runoff from up north that is headed our way and some businesses along the river are evacuating because they are on the wrong side of the flood gates. And since we have gotten very little in the way of rain, I might just have to "wash" my truck this weekend, too, get rid of all the white dust.

It does sound bad, but right now it isn't
We elected a new mayor last fall, and she has done a few things that I have never witnessed in the past. She is pro-active! There was talk that flooding 'might' be severe this spring, so a couple of months back she had all the dikes along the river raised to 3' above the highest recorded flood level, and had a bunch of new dikes made. Then lobbied the provincial government and got them to help fund a bunch of 'super sandbags' and the machines to fill and move them, then proceeded to setup temporary diking all along the 2 main arteries that cross the river. (These arteries have been completely flooded twice in the last 30 years, effectively cutting the city in 2).

Today, they are frantically building up the temporary dikes, as they were designed to hold back 3' of water, and it's already at the 5' mark, with about another 3' to go....but they have the man and machine power on it.

Today i can say I am proud of our city and especially our new pro-active mayor. No one alive has seen our river this high, and we are OPEN for business, and have not had to evacuate anyone......yet.

However, if one does let go.....you'll be hearing Tsunami reports from the bald prairies.

We've had flooding down here as well. What sucks is the main lake around here, Table Rock, has had to have the flood gates opened which lets all the water run down to the lower lakes. Our favorite lake, Bull Shoals, is one of the end lakes and right now it's 40' over normal. So the campgrounds we were planning on going to for Memorial Day Weekend are completely under water. Before all this rain, Bull Shoals was actually 5 feet under normal, but then jumped up to 10' over after the rains, then once the flood gates opened upstream, it went all the way up to 40' over and it'll be like that for a long long time. Probably all summer.
