Default Kicker Amp Upgrade

Hello. I have a 2007 Quad Cab with the Infinity 7 speaker system. I want information about the Mopar Kicker upgrade. Can someone help?

What happens if I just swap out the amp to the Kicker amp? Will there be any issues with Ohms? Will the back speakers then be amplified? Has anyone done this? How does it sound?

Or does the amp upgrade require the speakers to be changed per the upgrade too?

Thanks.

Ted

It's plug and play, Ted. But, not a great upgrade. It's a pretty weak amp, not much of a step up from the stock one. I did the swap, along with the Kicker speakers that are also available.

I ended up going with a brand new aftermarket amp and 2-way speakers and pulled the Kicker stuff out.

Thanks for the reply. What didn't you like about the Kicker upgrade? I want to just replace the amp first and see how that sounds. Then go for the speakers if needed.

Bottom line...looking for a cheaper upgrade keeping the stock head. Should I just plan a new amp and speakers then or try the Kicker upgrade first?

Also, do you have your Kicker amp still? Want to sell it?

Ted

The amp is pretty weak and I have since sent it on its way.

I'd go with a different amp and leave your stock amp in place to provide a digital signal, through a PacAudio harness adapter, to your new amp.

Speakers make a big difference just on their own and that's where I would start. Go listen to some, pick some, then put them in the truck. Then you can go after an amp that matches up well with your new speakers.

Thanks for the help. Any way to get the rears to work better before I get the new amp? Thanks.
