Default Trans Temp

I know that the transmission has to be warmed up to shift into OD, but at what temp does this occur? I'm planning on adding an auxilary thermostatically controlled cooler to keep it as cool as possible, but don't want to keep it too cool so that it doesn't shift properly. I'm leaning towards the 175* stat. Any ideas??

Mike

So if the temp is 65* I shouldn't have to worry at all about over cooling the fluid. Thanks for the info.

65F comes from the transmission service rebuild manual.
