Unhappy electrical??

my taillights, parking lights, and license plates lights went out. All other lights on truck work. 4 mechanics can't figure it out. went to dodge dealer, my fuse box(under the hood) went bad. warehouse is on backorder, alot of backorder. Why doesn't dodge recall? or, where can I find one. I can't drive it at night, and I don't want to sell it, I LOVE my truck!!! HELP!!!

Wow...that sucks. If there's a national back order, then all you can do is call around to different Dodge dealer parts stores to see if anyone has one in stock. Or, check local junkyards. 03/04/05 units should be interchangeable.

Good luck!

I'm a little skeptical that it's the IPM (Fuse Box). I would have someone check the park lamp relay in the fuse box. If it's not operational, I would be looking at the FCM (Front Control Module), as it is what sends the signal to the park lamp relay, and is a part that is more likely to fail than the IPM......a lot cheaper too.

I can't rule out the IPM, but like I said....I'm skeptical.

Cool fuse box issue!!

Thanks guys. Good to know 03/04/05 are interchangable. I had that question. And, all my relays, fuses, FCM everything else is good. I've checked it all. That's why I had to go to dealer. And I've checked all junkyards, everywhere, noone has them. But, thanks to you guys, I will check 03/05. thanks a bunch.

If you end up replacing it, I would be interested in your old one for exploratory reasons. If I am able to fix it, I'll send it back to you. I just don't think these things should be that difficult to repair, but until I can get some to disassemble and explore.....

+1, i can't believe it too. if they have wiring diagrams, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. challenges like those are fun. at least the vehicles have colored wires. imagine troubleshooting a motherboard inside a "black box" with over 4000 28 gauge wires... ALL YELLOW!!! oh those were the days!

Yellow!! You lucky dog you!
The Honeywell's I worked on used dark green. Couldn't even do the Sharpie marker thing on them.
They sure don't build them like they used to.....thank goodness!

that depends on which company you talking about..... Terradyne still likes single color usage. but hey, it's good experience. Loved it and miss it. hopefully, the next job will get me back into it. i can't wait!!!!!!! miss working on avionics.

Did you try putting your old IPM back in to see if the wipers, etc. work with it? If they work with the old IPM, then the the replacement is defective......or the wrong one.
