I am going to jack up my truck this weekend and try that. I also was on concrete when they left marks.

Two black marks is not always the best test..

I have a 10' Sport with open diff and 3.55's and can light up both tires from a dead stop on pavement too.
When I do a burnout at the drag strip I often get sideways right before staging

My Titan had an open axle, and just left one mark every time.

From what I can see, it was only offered as standard equipment in the Outdoorsman package, and maybe in the Sport package.
This seems to be one of the biggest discussions on the site. After living with the 3.55's for 20,000 miles and almost a year I've not had a situation where I was unable to get out. But I am thinking of adding an aftermarket locker to the RedRam10. Eaton is the direction I'm leaning toward.

The ESP system is more that adequate for almost all situations. My Magnum SRT, believe it or not, came with an open diff- yet it would burn the tires bald if one desired.

I know the platforms are wildly different. That being said, I will probably end up adding an LSD.....

I also have the 355's with the open diff and can burn em both off, so my question is,,, what is the benefit of the limited slip other than better traction on slick surfaces (ie ice and snow)?? And correct me if I'm wrong, the mpg's shouldn't change much if any, right?

Exactly that- better traction on ice/snow and in the muddy/sandy stuff.

No change in mileage, either....

even with an open differential, you get enough traction with your left side to get out of most circumstances

When your right wheel starts to spin in mud or snow, you can apply just enough BRAKE force to stop that wheel from spinning, while holding the brake pedal in that same position, apply the throttle slowly & give it just enough brake to keep that wheel from spinning. The rear differential will then Transfer traction to the left side & you can usually pull yourself out.
Try it for yourself, if you have an open differential, it works on both cars & trucks

Of course the LSD is better, you don't have to do the pedal dance,

The 3.21's use a different housing and therefore cannot accept the LSD carrier (I looked into upgrading my 2009 w/ 3.21's). LSD is an option (and upgradable) for 3.55, 3.92 and 4.10 gears. I can't remember what it was going to cost though. I stopped listening when the bill got to more than $2500 to change my 3.21's over.
