Question Should I buy this truck, need your opinion, thanks.

My boss just got himself a new 2015 full loaded 1500 Ram. Now he is selling his 2011 1500 Ram, which he told me I could get off him for $18,000. I have some questions, and can get some pics if it helps, thanks to anyone who looks. Here is more info.

1 - 2011 1500 Ram, HEMI V8, Quad Cab
2 - 88,000 Km's
2 - Minor rust on rear chrome bumper, very small dent on side and 2 small scratches on tailgate, other then that its mint.
3 - It comes with the metal fold up cover for the bed, I think its very slick looking.
4 - He never got the bed sprayed, so it has many scratches and small rust. Can I get it sprayed now like that, or will it cost more because of the rust?
5 - I have been reading that 2011's have suffered from the water leak issue, is it very common and should I be concerned.
6 - Is this true, my Boss said that his 2011 Ram 1500 has the heavy duty frame and can pull more then lets say a 2012 Ram? I can't find any info on this. He said they came like that without any badges.

Any info or help would be great, Thank you.

I can't help you with everything here, but some points I can:

4- You can get a bedliner sprayed in because prepping a bed for a spray in liner involves sanding it down to the metal to give the liner a tooth to stick to. This is because spray in bedliners are essentially a metal finish, so the rust will be sanded out anyway.

5- the 3rd brake light leak is pretty common among all 4th gen Rams, but nothing to worry about. It is easily fixed with some silicone, and not all trucks have it.

6- they made a Tradesman HD (I think just in 2010 and 2011) that was a 3/4 ton (2500) frame with the body of an RCLB 1500. It was never offered in a quad cab though so your boss is mistaken, unless there was some sort of commercial one offered that I'm not aware of.

Mileage doesn't seem too high, but you should be able to tell how it was taken care of since you know the guy. I would personally want to know the extent of that rust, but I'm from the southern U.S. where they don't use road salt so you'd be a better judge than I of how serious it is.

I would also ask him if he had the pinion nut recall performed.

Offer him $15000 grand due to some mild repairs and you should be happy.

I was offered $18,000 for my 2009 SLT QC HEMI, 2 wheel drive, that was before they realized that it had 120,000 miles on it
