Bigred,

You got any pictures of the truck with the scorpion liner on it? How was the application process and how much weight did it add to the truck? How durable is it?

Thanks,
Josh

Aparini,

That is one tight looking paint job! I was seriously considering doing my whole truck in a liber, but I was concerned about the additional weight, and obviously the cost. I started painting my truck with PlastiDip, but the durability isn't quite what I was expecting or wanting.

I talked to my local Line-X guy about this. He did an F150. After weight was less than 50lbs more, its not really that heavy.

50lbs? That's it? That's nothing. Man, seriously reconsidering this option again. At least going with some sort of liner, it would be more durable against mud and desert pin striping.

don't belive it it is only 50 lbs. unless it is thiner than a bed liner. either way, if i had to repaint my truck, i would consider this.

I questioned it too, but he was pretty adamant. I did not ask how thick he sprayed it though, thats a good point.

Did he use Scorpion or some other bed liner? How much did it cost to have your truck sprayed? I wouldn't mind finding a good product that I could spray myself.

Not mine. It was a truck he just finished spraying before he did my bedliner. He used Line-X Ultra (the UV protected one). Not sure how thick though. He was adamant that the added weight was less than 50lbs though.

I do have to say I have held some sprayed vs. unsprayed sample and it is not nearly the weight gain you would expect. My local dealer has several samples. One is a piece of card stock sprayed and one the same size unsprayed. You pick up the sprayed one expecting something like a heavy sheet of rubber and its not nearly what you expect.

hey sorry its took me so long to respond to this but id agree with some of the other guys about it being roughly 50-60 pounds. spraying it was pretty simple. just takes forever to sand and tape everything off on such a big surface lol i sprayed 4 gal of red and 2 gal of black on it. prolly order another gal of black to get my fender flares sprayed and back onto the truck. the 6 gallons and spray gun cost me just under $600 bucks. scorpion offers a life time warranty on there liner which i think is pretty dang good since i dont know any other diy company that offers that. as for durable i went off roading last week thru some thick brush and not a single scratch on her. just let me know if you have any other questions
