Default Fog light question

Does anyone know what all the vehicle manufacturers wont allow you to have your fog lights on WITH the high beams? If you need the high beams, doesnt it make sense to have the fog lights on also to light the area in front of the vehicle also?

It isn't the manufacturer but the different State Regulations that limit the number of headlights that can burn simultaneously to four bulbs typically. Check your state regulations.

if it is really foggy, using high beams doesn't do much, i believe it has a lot to do with the AIM & height of the beam
Now remember the High beams almost go straight out from your hood, which is great when you are driving when the weather is dry, when the weather is foggy or raining, that same high beam reflects off of the rain drops or mist & right back into your eyes. It is like having a mirror in front of your vehicle & its facing you.

It's a highway traffic act regulation......the 4 lamp rule.
When you turn on the high beams, the low beams stay on, so your at the 4 lamp max.

I always assumed the low beams kicked off when using high beams

My girlfriends dad has an H&S tuner on his 09 Cummins. I changed the setting so the fog lights stay on with the high beams. They don't really do much. He didnt even realize till I told him I changed it.
