Default Flat Black Ram

Just dropped my truck off this morning for paint. After weeks of deliberation with myself I have decided to go the flat black route. I really enjoy the hot rod look and I think this would look so bad ass. The guy says that it will take 3 to 4 weeks to complete! Does that sound right to anyone? Seems a little long. I have to replace both front doors and the front left quarter panel as they have rusted from Michigan salt in the winter. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made lol!!! Getting married, nope, having kids, nope! What color to paint my truck was rugged lol...Comments please!

If 2 stage with 100% full clear coat then yes.

If single then you will need to know that you can't buff or wax - this is a burden when it comes to scratches.

Black in general is hard to maintain but a flat/satin/matte finish is going to be major PIA.

It is a 2 stage flat paint job. 1st stage black with flattening agent, 2nd stage gloss! Question on that as well, if it has the clear coat, can I wax it to protect the paint? I'm assuming not, but just trying to clarify on what a couple people has said.

If fully clear coat on top then should provide full protection and the option to wax and buff like any other clear gloss.

Not a expert though. Your paint shop should confirm if yes or not.

I love flat black, had my 71 painted flat black and it looked great, another member on here has lowered single cab that is flat black and it looks really good. The funny thing about a flat black paint job is the people who are gear heads will complement it all day, the ones that dont know anything about cars will ask you when your gonna get it painted.

I think flat black looks awesome on dropped trucks as long as the rest of the truck is done right. If you're going flat black, I'd say there can't be any other chrome. At all. But if you're getting rid of all the chrome, go for it!!

Thats a good point, good thing all my chromes blacked out already im not a big fan of chrome anymore I used to be back when I had time to maintain it shiny hehehe.

What about a two tone scheme? Black grill black hood black cab from the door handles up including the pillars and maybe an inch or two of the bed from the top edge and black tailgate.. black rims too? But if I do that Ima have to go with reagular gloss black paint cuz i dout flat black will look right with my stock paint. I dunno
