Default Strange Ocurrance

While washing my truck on Sunday my keys fell out of my pocket and right into my wash bucket. Being as my key fob was on this set of keys I figured I just cost myself an easy $100.00 as I was positive the fob would be toast. So I pulled the battery and set my fob out on a piece of paper towel and let her dry for a few days.

Now here is where things get strange.

Since I'm using my other fob, all of a sudden I'm having all sorts of issues with the VR and UConnect. It will rarely connect on it's own. Pressing the hard buttons for VR or phone on the 430N will only work about half the time and when it does connect on it's own it's dropping half the calls back to the phone. If you sit with the phone in hand and force it to connect to uconnect 4 out of 5 tries it fails to connect or will connect for 10 seconds then fail.
So for fun I go and grab my original fob as it's now been sitting for 3 days drying out. I put the battery back in and test it. Remote lock and unlock work, remote start works. Hop in the truck and turn the key truck fires up....so I didn't fry the fob after giving it a bath but while testing the fob I notice my vr and uconnect issues are gone????

Strangest thing I've seen, I take the spare fob and start the truck with it and my problems come back.

Is this normal or do I have some weird gremlin at work here?

Fresher battery in the spare fob making a stronger signal to cause interference with the bluetooth connection maybe?

Now that's just plain weird. A fob should not have any affect on those systems. But apparently it does. <insert Twighlight Zone music here>

Try some wet cell phone solutions. Hold the key fob next to a vacuum and let the suction pull out the moisture or put overnight in a jar of uncooked rice to do the same thing.

I wonder if the fobs are coded like the push buttons are for driver 1 and 2? just my 2 cents

Nope...you now have weird gremlins...that's the only cause of such problems.

Try changing out the battery in the spare fob that you weren't using.

Sounds like you need to wash the other fob too.

Well the problem seems to have totally disappeared as both fobs work as they should and my connection issues are all gone. Really weird though as the 430N wasn't responding to hard key inputs and now it is.

I'll blame it on sun flares....yeah that's what the problem was! Still it's the strangest damn thing I've ever seen. There should be a hard reset button on these damn radios. Typically anything running software that starts to glitch can be cured with a reboot!

Either that or maybe my Blackberry was causing the problem?

Still doesn't explain the deck not responding to hard key presses.
Damn sun flares anyway!!!!

I think it was global warming. That's gotta be the cause of the problem.
