Default head gasket replacement

Ok sports fans so I have to replace my hg's. I've never done any engine work this in depth so I've been looking for two things with no luck.

1. A step by step to doing it by a normal joe. I have both guides but I'd love to have someone tell me the tricks and pitfalls to look out for.

2. Suggestions on what else I should do since I'm tearing off the top end of the motor.

I figure i should do the intake plenum gasket while I have it off but I dont have the money for the modified plenum and gasket. So if there are other suggestions on how to make it as strong as possible without spending the 150-200 on the upgrade..I'd appreciate it. Since I'll have the valves open to me I might as well do the them too. Whats that involve? What do I need to get to do it right? What about rockers and rods and springs and such? My truck has 183k but seems to have lived a decent life up till recently. Once again any suggestions, write ups, links or testimonials will really help me out. I like to list out all the stuff I'm gonna do before I begin and then takes pics as I go so you'll all be doing this job along with me!

Like I told you, you and I have to talk cause I know every thing about that engine especially since I have the same engine and I have studied the crap out of it, I know all the measurements of the engine from the bore to the play. I know the material of every part of the engine the nodular steel rods to the aluminum piston heads to the cast iron block and heads. So I will tell you everything to do the job and before you do the job do a diagnostic to assure that the muddy oil you found isn't related to a cracked block. I have all the OEM part numbers for every part on that engine. I know all the torque specs for the engine and even know the specs by heart for most of them atleast. I'm not saying im the only guy on here who knows how to do it cause that would be very stupid and I am sure that many people on the forum have done a replacement head gasket before, tons I'm sure. But honestly I am probably one of very few people who would probably do the job for you for free if I could. But anyways I really want to help you. One way you can help me is by telling me all the work you have done to the engine since you got the truck if you can remember. Another good thing is to drain all the oil let it settle so the oil and coolant could separate then take a clear cup and put a sample in the cup and then take a picture of the cup from the side and send it to me. This will give me an idea of how bad a leak you have and if it could possibly be related to a cracked block or head etc... Also any work you have done in collaboration etc... Alot of things can attribute to any issue trust me cause I have been through so many and on more then just the dodge 5.2L. But hey I am willing to help every way possible and I am more then happy to.
