Im about to go with the Mopar package myself. The hardest part is not getting gouged on the camera package or the install and "flash".

I can find a new 82211184 on ebay for under $300, verses $475 from my dealership. I was also very suprised to hear the dealership would intall the kit even if it was NOT puchased from them, as long it was a mopar product. Or just install it myself any pay the 1/2 hr shop rate to get them to flash it.

Great info here. I am looking to add the backup camera to my Ram as well. One reason is so I can hook up my trailer in one shot (instead of 3 or 4). I noticed RansRam's Audiovox camera would pickup my hitch but CherryRedHemi's Boyo above would not.

I have the lockpick cam that goes by the plate, i found that it sucks at night you can not see anything due to the licensse plate lights. I just bought the mopar handle one that will be hre tomorrow. I would say if you have a radio that will support it fo with the mopar version of camera.

I just ordered the Lockpick. I will most likely order the Audiovox CMOS2 camera for $60. There are a few cameras that will fit in the OEM hole in the tailgate handle. Plus I can install a front camera and rear video monitors if I wish. I can get the Lockpick and camera for less than the Mopar camera kit + the dealer charge to flash your ECU.

I have the standard radio so I am not going to go through the trouble with OEM. What does anyone recommend for a plate type camera/monitor for under $100?

ill sell you my lockpick and camera for $220 shipped. I bought an OEM camera to attach to my RBZ radio.

its impossible to see with a plate camrea at night the reverse lights make huge white spots on boths sides of the lense.

Not sure if last post was directed at me but I only tow boats and I never boat at night so not a concern about backup light glare. Does the tailgate clear the camera is more of a concern. What is a lockpick & camera?

I posted this another thread, but it applies here as well...this is how I did it on my 2009

I installed a back-up camera on my 2009, I used this monitor:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o07_s00_i00

and this Camera:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o07_s01_i00

I spliced into the the passenger side back up light, white is the signal wire, black is the ground. I mounted the camera on the license plate frame. You run the camera power from the back-up light, to the camera. Then, you run an rca av cable to the monitor in the vehicle. For that, I took power from the radio main power and ground wires on the harness. I drilled a small hole right above the radio and ran the wires to connect through there, so they are hidden when the trim is replaced. I ran the AV signal cable through the floorboard and under the carpet to up in the radio trim/bezel. Power is activated on the monitor when there is a signal from the camera. So, it only comes on when you go in reverse, and then goes out. This particular monitor also has audio inputs, so you can watch movies on it Which I don't use, but you could. Total cost, $41. I did need a small extenstion cable to reach all the way, I had lots of extra cable, so I just had to buy a AV video cable coupler for $2. I the monitor sits on my dash, works great! I can post pictures if anyone cares.

I care but.....is it not much easier to use a remote AV? For what I think is less than $20 you don't have to run wire, you hook up a remote system. Has anyone run a cheap remote system????

Well, it's only wireless for one wire, you still have to power the camera and the display monitor, so you only save running one wire. Since the "one" wire came with the camera I purchased, I just took the extra 10 minutes to run it.
