I didn't lower the pressure in my tires at all i did need to put it into 4 wheel drive a lot the sand in the outer banks was really soft that week. I had a lot of fun driving on the beach. I ran into a lot of dodge owners also, I was telling them about this forum and hopefully some of them will join. I posted some pictures of my truck on the beach on the photo section if u wanted to see them. Thanks everyone.

You guys running with traction control on or off in the sand. My inclination would be to run with it off, but I'm really not all that well versed in this model's traction control.

Default 4x4 on sand

Sand up north is alot softer. I can speak for Long island that is. You need to air down just to be sure.

I run with trac OFF at all times. Enables me to have control over the wheels in the sand. I hate computers trying to tell me what to do. Yes...I am aware my wheels are spinning. I want them to. You aren't saving me from getting stuck, you are gonna cause it though.

open diffs in sand are much better than locked. my titan was open/open and it was unbelievable in sand. it sucked everywhere else but i would drop that thing in a deep pile and get right out of it. i'm guessing my 2500 won't be as good.

I definitely air down I have found going down to 18-20 psi has never given me a problem, usually have it in 4 wheel low which knocks off the traction control.
The sand is usually very soft on LI and can get rutty in all the tire tracks of other trucks.

Remember to spray the crap down out of your undercarriage after driving on salty sand or it'll eat up your frame and components down there. Suspension should be good as its aluminum, but I'd spray the steel stuff down really well.

I agree with all the above. The only thing I havent seen added to the list of things is a 5 gallon bucket. I've used a bucket many tires to carry water from the surf to pour around my tires. Also a couple roll's of carpet about 2'x8' will help. And from all the time on the beach I spent living on South Padre, The fattest, baldest tires you can find work best. Also helps if you have a little lift to keep from bottoming out in the ruts.

GREAT ADVICE!!! I ruined both Timken bearings on my aftermarket axles in my Jeep from sand. Got stuck in the grease and they were shot before I knew what was happening, less than 3K miles.
