Hmm, I selected the passenger airbag to off and the off light did not light up. Hopefully, replacing the bulb will cure the light.

Thanks Brad

Anymore recommendations/suggestions before I give in to the Dealer? What else could cause the circuit to stay open even after the system has been reset by the proper scanner?

On many cars recently they made it so the light for the air bag goes on at a normal schedule. The reason why is really so you take it to a dealer so they can get money out of you but they claim it's cause they do regular tests on the system to make sure everything is in order so that light doesn't only mean there may be a failure but it could just mean that it's time to get it checked. My mother hyundai is like that, the light goes on because it's suppose to get hooked up to the dealers tool to do a test. I know it sounds odd but sometimes the simple things you can find the answer in the owners manual! LOL

Not that this has happened to anyone I know while installing an electric tailgate lock.

My uncle ownes a mechanic shop and he has the proper scanner tool to scan and reset the system (airbag). He doesn't know much system other then what the scan tool indicates. On the initial scan, the scan tool detected and displayed a code for the airbag, reset system and code went away but the airbag light on instrument cluster remained on (passenger airbag disable warning lamp open.

There should be a cover for that assembly with the lamp in it.
Do you have pix of all the pieces?

Well, I removed the switch again and there wasn't a bulb anywhere to be found. Not exactly sure of the type of bulb to install since there wasn't one there. The dealer wants $35 plus tax for another switch and he did not sound to convincing to whether or not a bulb should be installed.
