Ramoreno,
I purchase a switch from the dealer, since its a dealer only part ($37.50). I disconnected the negative battery cable, installed new airbag switch, reconnected battery and the airbag light is out!!!! The switch was the problem. You was connect concerning the voltage overload when reconnecting the connector plug. Anywho, the new switch solved my contious airbag cluster light on for me. Hopefully, if others are experiencing the same problem, the issue might be the switch also.

I had this same problem of the airbag light staying on after having the entire dash removed from a customer's 2002 Ram 1500. The truck showed no DTC's. After reading this post i decided to check this same switch. When I checked it, I had simply left that switch unplugged. Thank you all for your posts which helped me diagnose this problem.

Do you have a part number for that switch? My 05 Daytona has the same problem after the previous owner put an aftermarket head unit in the truck. The light does not display off when switched over.

Hello all

New here. This is my first post, found this forum after searching the web or the airbag light issue. Just wanted to say thanks! Had the same problem. I noticed the airbag off light at the switch was not coming on when the switch was off, causing the dash light to come on. I took the switch off and pulled it apart on the bench to clean it. Better now though I think for the low price of a new switch I'll jut get new one.

Fow what it's worth, the bulb was fine it is just that the sw was dirty. Don't really see how a power surge could damage it as there isn't much to it... I suspect it is just dirt and oxidation from never being used and the removal from the Dan causes the problem.

Thanks again

My Airbag light just came on too, not head unit related (OE radio). Thinking of checking the fuse first then the bulb. Where is this switch located? Is it a pain to get too? I have an 06 ram 1500 slt

same thing happened to me, i was messing with the stereo & the light popped on (the car was running so i could have the a/c on because it is HOT). thanks to you all i tracked down the problem to the bulb. since it's sunday i just ran by radio shack and picked up a "mini lamp 12v 25ma" and soldered it right over the top - didn't even remove the old bulb. total time to fix after obtaining the bulb less than 10min. hopefully it will last a while i've used these same bulbs before for vintage radio repair and they sometimes blow in two hours and sometimes last for decades. the part number is 272-1141 in the radio shack catalog if anyone need a fast fix.

The mini lamp trick just worked for me also. Dealer had no switch in stock and said he would order one for me so I figured what do I have to lose .The new switch would be free anyway. That's free if the dealer ever remembers saying he would mail it to me . For $1.99 I bought two . worked perfect the red Airbag light on the instrument cluster went out . Thanks for the tip
