I've been looking at getting a new Ram and I've noticed on the Ram "build your own" site it has 3 options. 3.55 gear, 3.92 (with anti-spin rear differential) and Anti-Spin Differential. If the 3.92 gear comes with an Anti-Spin Differential then what is the 3rd separate option for? There is a difference of about $300 between the 3.92 and the Anti-Spin Differential Option.

I don't know if they changed it but it used to be that standard ratio was 3.55 and you could pay for 3.21 or 3.92 as an option, and as a SEPARATE option you could pay for LSD (I don't think LSD was available with 3.21 though...).

the new Rams can be bought with these rear ends
3.21 ratio
3.55 ratio
3.55 ratio with the LSD, (Limited Slip Differential)
3.92 ratio
3.92 rato with the LSD
4.11 ratio with LSD
4.56 ratio may also be an option

LSD is real good if you drive in mud, snow, off road, & ice
3.92 seems to be the preferred ratio

Mine didn't have the LSD either. I just had it installed. It's well worth the $325 option when you are purchasing the truck. My Dakota had it when I traded it in. Unfortunately for me, I fell for the sales pitch that the traction control was more like an electronic LSD. I found out the hard way that was far from the truth. It's much better with the LSD, even if it's only the 3.55's.

My 2011 has 3.92 rear end and the sticker that was on the window says anti slip so I am assuming I have it. Thanks to my salesman, he asked me are you just driving or will you be towing. I told him I will be towing a 6000 pound camper so he said look at this truck. It is the same truck but has the upgraded rear end and LSD. That is why I have bought all of my cars from him. He knows what he is doing.

When I got my Ram I told the dealer the 3.92 with L/S was a must-have option. Salesman checked his inventory (he had a good supply of 1500's) and only found a few with that combination, both 4wd. I was looking for a 2wd. So I bought the 4wd, happy that I did though. I don't know why Ram makes this such a hard option to find. I found that most Fords and Chevys on dealer's lots come with L/S.

The only Ram I have owned without LSD was my D-50 Import. My 97 Larmie came with 3.55 LSD and I could pull my boat up the ramp without 4WD. (23' Boat). That has always been a must have on the option list. In fact that is the first thing I look for on the window sticker.
