You won't need to re-program it. It may throw a code the first time you start it up but that happens sometimes. The PCM's do learn (they have some adaptive properties) so there's no need to send it anywhere. Just put on your CAI and go.

You might consider getting a programmer one day, especially if you also do exhaust. The programmer will help you reap all the benefits of the additional air in and out.

I don't have the answer to your question but my question is along the same lines so I figured I would jump in. I also just picked up a cold air intake for my 2010 Ram. I have the Laramie w/ factory dual exhaust so I only planned on a programmer; Is there a programmer that anyone can recommend?

A straight pipe is really loud I had it for a little then put a muffler on and now I just have a turndown after the muffler with no resonator. I just used a cheap thrush and it sounds great. As far as a programmer goes you can't go wrong with the predator.

Here are some good threads on exhaust:

As for the tuner, no question the DiabloSport Predator seems to be the most popular on this forum. They do not make them for the 2011 models yet but should have them available for earlier versions. Do a Google search and you will find plenty of vendors that sell them. (Disclaimer: I have a 2011 and do not have a tuner (yet) so I can't give any opinion on how effective they are).

You can also disconnect the battery before you install the intake and then connect it back once you are done. It can help the computer adjust quicker to the new intake.

Most folks just replace their muffler(s) with some freer flowing aftermarket units. I went with a Magnaflow 18" unit because I like the sound of those.

I have two HEMI powered vehicles and both of them have the DiabloSport Predator programmer loaded on them. I like how it works, I like the tuning flexibility, I like the changes you can make. See my "Ram Mods" link below and scroll to page 2 to see real world results of the DS 91 octane program on the truck HEMI.
