Default Front bumper cover

Hello everyone.
I called my local Dodge dealer today to price a front bumper cover. I want to replace my chrome 2010 bumper with the painted ones found on the sport models. They told me I need an entire new front end...bumper, brackets, support, cover etc. Is that true? And while we're at it I also want the back bumper body color as well. Is that just a matter of painting it?
Thanks for any input.

One of our members did a full replacement like you're wanting to do. I've been looking for the thread but haven't found it. I've read about others who have had the chrome etched with acid, primed and painted with no issue. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

The SLT and sport front bumpers are completely different. You will need all of the stuff the dealership mentioned. The back bumper is a straight switch and is just a matter of being painted. I remember the thread that RedRam is talking about and I believe that guy said he spent about 3000$ total in parts, paint, and installation. The Jimsautoparts diagram is everything you need, but I have heard bad things about their customer service. Good luck with the change over.

Thanks very much for the info Scot. I added up the parts and they totaled approx $873 and I can do the assembly myself but then I still have to paint it or get it painted. Has anyone had any success painting the chrome front bumper and if so any pictures?

Yeah, the sport bumper has a different set of mounting brackets and supports underneath.

And I don't think you can get them pre-painted so you'll want to give the body shop your paint code.

Thanks Saunders. Your truck looks very nice indeed. Why did it cost so much though. I priced the parts at around 800-900 dollars plus paint of course. How much were your parts alone if you don't mind me asking? Did you have someone install everything?
