Default Need (comfortable) headrest - 2011 RAM 1500

I just picked up a 2011 RAM 1500 Quad Cab SLT/Big Horn 4x4. Less than 200 miles on it so far and I like it with the exception of the front headrests. This has the "premium cloth 40/20/40 bench seat". The front headrests are tilted WAY FORWARD such that you can't even come close to leaning your neck back against the seat. What was Dodge thinking?

Adjusting the height does not solve this. I have seen suggestions of swapping front & back headrests but would rather not do this. I would like to find some replacement front headrests that are straighter, just extending the current line of the seat back, not tilted forward at a completely ridiculous angle.

I have tried a bit of Internet searching for replacements but have not found anything so far. I do not want video monitors in the headrests which is what most searches seem to find. Can anyone help with some pointers to good front headrests for a 2011 RAM 1500?

I pulled mine out and reversed them so that they slope back instead of frontwards. They still provide the intended protection.

I'd be carefull messing with safety stuff. That forward slope is there for whiplash protection. You may be ok with your mod but what if someone else is in the vehicle and gets hit / hurt?

I've gotten used to them but they are designed to protect you from whiplash

If you really want to change the headrests, your best solution is probably a local upholstery shop who can reconfigure your stock ones.

I know a good one in Hillsboro if yer interested.

i switched the front headrests around, they don't lock in place, but they are way more comfortable
they way that they come from Dodge, if someone rear ended me, my chin would be driven into my chest & then the air bag would slam into my face
some people have taken the front seat headrest completely out & moved the rear ones up to the front, some day another 2009 - 2012 ram will be at the dismantling yards

I never noticed my headrests either so that must mean they are fine for me. I will take a look at them next time I get in the truck though

I had the same problem in mine. I guess if you drive with the seat in the reclined position they could be ok. I like to drive sitting up.
I don't know if this will work as I have cloth bucket seats but I took the rear head rest out and put them in the front. My rear seat is used only folded down and used only for storage.
