I haven`t received my truck yet, but I was wondering how hard it is to remove the engine cover (I`m thinking of painting mine black).

What process did you take to paint it? Primer and then paint? Did you scuff the cover first? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm curious about the painting process as well. But I have had my cover off and it is extremely easy. You have to remove the snorkel fromt he airbox to your throttle body. Then just pull up on the front and out. There is 1 grommet on each side of the engine and 2 in the back that the cover just sorta "snaps" into.

There is a lot of info on the forum about painting the cover from more experienced modders, and I used that info. But I used Duplicolor factory match paint over grey Duplocolor primer, over adhesion promotor. I just cleaned the cover with degreaser and a fine scratchpad before. The cover is real easy to take off.

Good call on the warning about the cold. Both of my covers cracked and I ordered new ones. I am more careful now. BTW the manufacturer changed the bottom of the covers and they go on and off more easily.

I'm not big on light covers. But I will say I like the painted engine cover. That looks pretty good.

I just received my gts head and tail covers and the driver's headlight cover does not fit at all. It is molded wrong or something, because it is not bent enough for the light. If you push it tight at the grill it pops out on the fender side, and vise-versa. Did you have any fitment issues? I called the gts customer service and they are supposed to call me back tomorrow. Hope they just ship me a new one. Got mine on Amazon for $140 for all four. How much were yours?

lose the covers tint or paint the tailights and paint the inside of the headlights had covers before and the light out put sucks you get rear ended with those puppies on and your at fault. If you paint the headlight housing inside headlights will look black but lose 0 light out put same with tails use a red led bulb and when you hit breaks will be like they are not painted

And as far as taking off for night driving they will break sooner or later
