Default Magnaflow 22" vs Flowmaster 50 series

I'm going to the muffler shop in a week and half. The guy at the muffler shop stocks Flowmaster, but can order Magnaflow. I wanna get a muffler that sounds barely louder than stock, or just as quiet as stock. My reasons for getting a muffler replacement are not for sound, but for performance and fuel economy.

The muffler shop owner said the performance gains for a Magnaflow and Flowmaster would be the same, but that the Flowmaster would help fuel economy and the Magnaflow wouldn't.

I haven't heard either one in person, but going by what I've heard on youtube, I'm slightly partial towards Magnaflow. I also know that Magnaflow is much more popular.

Supposedly, he'll let me hear both of them on my truck, but I have my doubts if he'll actually go through all the trouble of doing that.

So what are y'all's thoughts? What are the pros and cons of each?

wrong...when it comes to Hemi rams, magnaflow will perform better then any flow...I ran Flow 50 deltas awhile back..when i was slow. Then switched to a 22" mag and my performance improved.. don't understand why people are stuck on flows...we had this convo in the 3rd gens and no one that performs good (talking about the fast 1/4 guys) run flows.

and my mileage with mags is in the 20's... you see, efficient scavenging is what you look for, flows are barely better then stock and mags definitely flow better then flows...I've changed my muffler 3x..started with an 18" mag, then to flow 50's (from listening to know-it-alls who are wrong), then switched to a 22" mag a couple years ago..if I replace my muffler, it's only for a 22" mag replacement...

I'm pretty sure I'll either go with the Magnaflow or stick to my stock exhaust. Thanks for you input!

I have used flow masters on two vehicles in the past and have removed both times. I stick with magnaflow now and will not use any other exhaust great sound and better performance . Very high quality, and if you shop you can find some really good deals.
