Default Road Vibrations

I've had my 1500 BH for almost 2 months and I've noticed some vibration coming through the floorboard and pedals when driving. Is this normal and I just didn't notice as much on my last vehicle?

I plan on taking it in to the dealer to point out a blemish in the factory paint that I'd like them to correct and considered bringing up the vibration. I guess it wouldn't hurt, but I don't want to come across as some dork either.

Thanks

Try to note if it only happens at certain speeds or in a certain RPM range. That might help the dealer replicate it. Could just be a tire balance. But honestly, I am not an expert so I cannot say for sure. Have only had mine a month and it rides smooth. Hope you get it worked out.

I got 2 words for you Hog Fan.... Dan Hampton!

Seriously though, thanks for your input. You seem to have a lot of insight on many truck-related topics and are quick to reply. You must get text alerts every time a new thread is started. j/k

As for the Dan Hampton comment, I'm a long suffering Bears fan.

No text messages, just too much time on this damn forum...which in turn leads to too much money spent on mods. HA!

Dan Hampton? Great, now I have the Super Bowl Shuffle stuck in my head.

I've had my Sport for 3 months and same thing.
I left it with the dealer and the service manager drove it home and back the next morning.
He lives out of town 45 min away.
I described when I noticed it the most, about 60km per hr.
He felt there was no problem. I guess it is a Ram thing.
This is my first Ram after 5 F150s.
I love the truck otherwise, but the vibe drives me a bit crazy.
I guess I have to get used to it.

Jeff

I have this problem and have read alot of other owners saying the same thing.
Happens around 1200-1600 rpms.

I think it is some kind of harmonic with MDS at that range.

If you cap your transmission at 4th or 5th it will disable the MDS and the vibration will be greatly reduced.

Hope this helps, worked for me...

Oh yeah, you are wasting your time talking to the dealer about issues like this. He will just give it a test spin and say everything is fine and you are nuts. Then he doesn't have any more work to do.

I had to provide the installation instructions for my side steps to the dealer to PROVE to him they had installed them backwards...

That work's for me too.
It just seems like a shame to purposely disable a feature that is engineered into a vehicle to "make it better"

That may be why I don't feel it (or at least don't notice it). I am already in the habit of driving in 5th to disable the MDS.

If not using MDS doesn't solve your problem, you might want to consider getting your wheels & tires road force balanced.
