On my 07 4.7, I can honestly say that I can't tell a difference between performance, 87, mileage, or stock (never tried towing) with my superchips. There probably is a gain in performance, but I really can't feel it. There might also be a small gain in mpg, but it's half a gallon or less on my truck (still under 13 mpg on hwy).

I'd like to say it makes a very noticeable difference, but it doesn't from my experience. So my opinion is that it's really not worth it for the older 4.7s. YMMV.

That's a pretty unusual response about a tuner. See with mine it's 50hp it feels like I strapped on a rocket compared to stock. Most vehicles gain about 20hp with a tuner which is consistent with the older 4.7L gains, and most people say with that it's night and day, but every vehicle is different, so is everyone's opinion! lol

I will be in the same boat as you when they come out with tuners for the 2011's. From what I am reading the superchips is better with the trans. shifting points. I would love to getting better shifting patterns out of my sport.

Does anyone know if you could use a programmer to adjust the point at which the truck decides to go into OD? Probably the biggest complaint I have about my truck is that it absolutely seeks OD and then ends up having to downshift right back because it never should have went into OD to begin with. I don't have any desire to change the tranny otherwise but I would love to make it hang on to those lower gears a little longer.

Also, something I just thought of. Is there any way to tell if the person before you tuned your truck? What if, for example, the previous owner had a tuner and programmed a fuel mileage tune? How would you ever know??

The superchips will hold the gears a little longer, but I believe to adjust a gear that specifically like you want you would have to purchase the advanced trans tuning feature, although I've not purchased it nor used it, but I'm almost positive with it you can tweak shift points to wherever you want. As far as the tuning history, you really wouldn't ever know.

Come on peeps....got to be some more people running some kind of programmer on the older 4.7?? I was just reading about the return policy on autoanything's website. The 15% restocking fee means it would only cost me about $50 to send it back if I wasn't satisfied and I have 30 days to evaluate. Only problem for me is that I have a work vehicle and probably don't drive my truck enough to know for sure in 30 days.

I think diablo sport is probably ur best bet, well that's what I'm thinking I want to go with they seem to have a good rep I just haven't heard many people with 4.7s talk about how it worked which would be very helpful, but I did email diablo sport and ask what kind of gains to expect they said 20 to 25 hp to the wheels

I think I would be satisfied with Superchips or Diablosport as I've heard great stuff about both. But I may be leaning towards the Predator as well, mainly because so many people on here seem to recommend it and it's about 40 bucks cheaper.

I don't really see how you couldn't gain some power by switching to a higher octane fuel and a tune designed specifically for it. I would jump all over one in a heartbeat if I knew it would net the 20-25 whp that they told you. From what I have read I would expect those gains from the newer 4.7 but I haven't seen a lot about the older ones like mine.
