Default K&n air filter what a difference

Everything on my truck as regards to the engine is stock. I have for sometime been thinking of just changing the air filter so last night after 17,000 I put in a K&N filter. I really had no complaints with the stock filter that is for my driving, but this morning on driving to work what a difference even my wife noticed that the truck seemed to run smother and I noticed a quicker and more positive response on the throttle. So we now to see if we get better mpg.

On a different subject last week I went to the dealers to have a oil change. So the first thing is said to me is that I need a dif oil change and that is what Chrysler recommend at 15,000 , my reaction is not in owners manual plus they want 120 bucks. So I am waiting and the mechanic comes in and shows me a sample of the oil on his hand and says it is pretty clean which it looks to me, and then says that that he frequently sees black oil which needs changing after 15,000. I don't think I have seen any such comments on this forum. So has anyone else come across this situation as I think even the most ardent oil changers leave it to a minimum of 30,000.

The K&N will flow better air so a throttle response improvement would be expected.

I change my diffs at 15,000

Just a drop in.
When i dropped it in on friday the evic was 11.2 on this tank of gas it had dropped from about 18 when traveling on the freeway for about 60 ml at the start of a full tank, but doing the same local Seattle traffic that had reduced the milage. Since putting the K&N in over the last three days the evic has gone up to 12.1 on the same tank of gas.
If you understand that the bottom line is it looks like I could be getting better milage
