Default 2011 CC Build from scratch - Help me with my shopping list!

Alright folks, I've owned my new 2011 sport CC 4X4 for about 3 days now and I'm dissapointed in the alpine stereo. Its a significant improvement from my last stereo (03 SLT base stereo) but not what I want. I had always wanted to upgrade the 03 but as it got older the idea became less and less feasable.

To the shopping list: I plan on installing 6.5" components in the front and rear doors. I would like really good quality in the front and just good quality in the back. I plan on installing the mids and tweets together inside the back doors, and installing the mids in the doors in the front with the tweets up in the door pillars. (little triangle piece by the window on the door)

Here's what I'm looking at right now, please let me know your thoughts on the equipment.

Head unit - I would love to keep the 730N stereo, I understand I need an "Amplifier Integration Interface"

The two I'm looking at right now are:

JL Audio Cleansweep CL441dsp MSRP $349
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_cleansweep.php?prod_id=369

OR
PacAudio CHY23 MSRP $149.99
http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=28

Now unless the cleansweep is significantly better, I'm going with the PAC purely because of the wiring harness. It looks like it's plug n play while the cleansweep makes no mention of a wiring harness so I'm assuming I'm going to have to splice wires. Both units are available for a similar price.
Next post equalizers...

Default Equalizers/graphic equalizers?

Does anybody use these anymore???

I was hoping to install one of these on top of the amp which will be located under the drivers seat. Would add a little more options than the
  • Bass
  • Mid
  • Treble
that the stock head unit offers, as well as subwoofer control. I have no idea who makes good ones, or if they are even used anymore. A subwoofer remote would be great, and a price of under $300 is a must.

Default Amp

Alpine PDX-5 MSRP - $599
http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-5

- should be able to get for around $450 shipped from ebay.

Seems like a natural fit for under the drivers seat...unless I can install it on the floor under the drivers side rear seat right against the back wall? Seems to be lots of room under there.

I'm fairly set on this amp because of the bang/buck ratio but I'm open to suggestions...

Default Speakers

Fronts:

Boston Acoustics PRO60SE 6.5" 500W Components Speakers MSRP $599 ($279)
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/%2FPRO-C261.aspx

Rears:

Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S MSRP - $449.99 ($170)
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?item_id=112904&locale=en_US

Although if the RF's sound like a decent pair I may put them in he fronts as well....are the bostons worth the price upgrade (~$100)?

Default dynamat - worth the effort and cost?

So the '11 is significantly quieter in the cab than the 03. As far as road noise is concerned, is laying dynamat on the floor going to give me a noticeably quieter ride? Is it really even worth putting on the inside of the doors?

I will have more questions....

Hopefully these ideas help .

Thanks, sounds like yours is going to be quite the system.

Has anybody just replaced the 8" factory sub and supplied it with some real power?

I've adjusted the "EQ" a bit (turned the mids down) and the system now sounds decent, I think what I'd like to aim for is the same type of sound, just louder, cleaner and more powerful.

Do you think that the tweets are going to sound OK in the dash?? I have debated this idea, and I'd honestly really like to replace the dash speakers and add the tweets to the door panel. I have had vehicles in the past with tweeters in that location and I like the sound, I also like the full range sound coming off the window as well...

Can I bridge the PDX5 down to 2 ohms in the front to run a set of 3.5" dash speakers with the components in the doors run in parallel? Or maybe I should power the dash off the front channel, doors off the rear and leave the factory amp powering the back doors?

My audio guy here in kelowna tells me that the tweets are bright enough and this is a common placement for them and in the rear they drop down the door speakers by 3DB just for fill, the main sound comes from the subs and the fron stage in reality you dont need all the extra speakers for good sound, once they dynamat the doors and build a good enclosure for the subs the sound will be really tight,im going for quality not spl but she's gonna be loud ill almost be 1000 watts when done.

Just took out out factory sub and put 2 10w3 under rear seat in atrend box and a 500/1 under driver seat tying into factory hu with pac audio c2a-chy23 sounds good might go bigger though found a box that will accept 2 12w6, but sounds great for alot less money than the 12 setup considering had the amp already

as far as the Cleensweep goes it is far superior due to the fact that they put out tru 7v output to the amps which will certainly make the amp perform 10 fold over the pac. the cleen sweep does come with a harness that is plug and play but u have to order it specifically for your truck all teh pac does in function is bypass the stock amp so u can add aftermarket stuff
