Default Well I'm Finally Doing it.

I've always been back and forth about doing what I really have wanted to do for a living. My dream was to go to an auto tech school and become an ASE certified tech. But my dad thought otherwise. He discouraged me from going to an auto tech school saying I wouldn't make it and the pay just wasn't worth it. Well my mom finally got him talked in to it, and a year after I've graduated from HS, I'm finally going to school to be a diesel tech!

It's a 2 year program here in SW MO that'll get me certified and give me an associates degree working on medium and heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment. It's not quite an automotive tech, as it deals with larger trucks. But I'm hoping to get on with a Dodge dealership or at the Cummins center here in town. I'm really shooting for Dodge so that I can work on what I love, Dodge Cummins trucks

Now, this all comes with a price sadly. I'm going to have to work part time at the Bass Pro warehouse and money will be tight. So that most likely means my truck won't be mine come August. I'm going to try and trade it in for something more fuel friendly as it's averaging about 12 mpg right now And since the price of gas hasn't gone down a whole lot here, it's still costing me $80 a week (if I'm lucky) to drive the beast. Working part time just won't cut it. I figure I can trade my truck in or sell it for around $7,500 or $8,000 and find myself a smaller truck like a Ranger or S-10 that would be much more fuel efficient and cheaper on insurance. And my dream would be to find a job making plenty of money so that I can get myself in to a new Dodge

Well just thought I'd share with you guys and gals. Take care

Really glad to hear you're going to do this, I know you've mentioned before that's really what you wanted to do, so best of luck with it and definitely keep us posted! Sorry your Ram may have to go, an understandable sacrifice, but a Dakota wouldn't be a bad alternative.

jcasey10, i'm glad your going to the Tech school like you wanted
if you get the ASE Certification & you still enjoy working on diesels, you can learn enough to go to work for Gale Banks

Then you can have a RAM truck that is not only good looking, but the fastest Ram in your county or state
