Question Hill Start Assist

I have a 10' Laramie Crew 1500. It has all the bells & whistles. It has Hill Assist Start & its turned on. My question is how does it work? I assumed that it held the brakes until you gave it enough gas to turn it off. Mine only holds for about a second then releases. I was pulling my trailer last weekend and this was the first time I ever noticed it. I read the manual and thought it would hold for longer. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure how it works but it's only supposed to hold for a second or two, just to give you enough time to get your foot from the brake to the gas.

I think he ^^^^ is right. It won't hold indefinitely and I don't think it waits for you to touch the accelerator, either.

The gospel said that it must be over a 7% grade and if towing you must have the tow/haul on, also states that it is not a brake user beware, out of the big Ram manual

^^^^ They are right, grade must be steep enough and it only holds for a couple of seconds. Enough time to get off the brake and on the gas ......

Studerbaker's had it in the 50's but that was when we all had stick shifts, and it was a real deal. as long as you held the clutch in it would hold

same here...I learned to drive with a '82 Datsun "king cab" (4cyl with dual plugs)...so ever since I use both feet....using my right foot on the brake just feels unnatural
