Default 09-up Vararam CAI coming soon!

Sent an inquiry to Vararm a few weeks back wondering if they are going to be coming out with a kit for the 09-up Rams. Well, they finally got back to me yesterday and said they are doing street testing on it this week and if everything goes as planned it will be available very soon. Have heard mixed reviews regarding Vararam, mostly quality issues, but I think we all agree that , in principle, is a fantastic design that gives our truck engines about as close to a ram air effect as you're going to get. I didn't get a release date, but I'm going to stay on top of this and keep you all updated.

The guy with it on his truck is still having some issues. (he is on one of my other forums)

from a post from him on 05/29/2011

The Ram intake has been under prototype status for awhile and that is mostly because of input from me on daily performance issues. Its hard to make these speed density computers happy with lots of air coming in. We've tried different placements of the air horn and IAT sensor and different air horns all together. The radius of the air horn inlet length and diameter of the air horn and placement of the IAT sensor make huge differences in all aspects of engine performance and daily drivability. This current one isn't working out and we will be going back to the previous style but a little smaller diameter. This should really help out with low and mid range power.

The Vararam setup will probably be a little different than this pic. This looks like an actual ram air setup with a functional hood scoop. I can't imagine the Vararam intake drawing in even half the cfm that this pic is drawing in, so hopefully they won't have the same "too much air" issues that this guy is having.

Adidas_kn does not have a Ram Air hood,
he had a stock hood on at the time of that pic, and just recently added a Challenger styled sport performance (non-functional) hood ...

The 4G Vararam thread on the "other" board is almost two years old now, the running joke is available in two weeks...posted every two weeks for two years LOL

dont hold your breath

My apologies for ASSuming it was a functional hood scoop setup. So is that a custom built intake he designed? It looks like a badass setup for sure. Blows he's having issues with it though.

Point taken regarding the Vararam intake for the 4G. I guess I'll wait 2 more weeks before posting any updates I can get out of them!
