Default Magnaflow Exhaust

I'm thinking about going in and getting dual exhaust put on my truck and I was just curious about your thoughts on a 14" or 18" Magnaflow and where I should dump it at. Thanks guys.

18" dumped just over axle...before axle will be loud in cab, piping to rear or stock exit will drone in cab...I'm running a 22" mag dumped over axle and it is quiet in the cab..

I have the 14" Magnaflow SI/DO and they go straight out the back. I do not get much of the drone and the cab is pretty quiet once up to speed. When I gun it, i can definitely hear it..

I also disabled MDS, so that may be one of the reasons the drone is not as bad..

Confused; how does dumping over axle make the system quiet when factory exit out the side drones? With my stereo background it sure seems as though the exit under the bed where the sound is bouncing off of things would be louder than the factory exit out the side where the wind catches all the sound waves.

I just got the 14 put on with factory resonator still on the system and it drones pretty bad. Almost annoying with MDS kicked in. With MDS off, it sound great and I don't mind the volume level at all. It even sounds a little muffled to me.

Who has removed resonators and found the droning to stop? I"m concerned that the drone will get louder and that would be cause to reverse everything for me.

Just trying to not re-invent the wheel on this process, as I"m sure most people do.

I left the front Resonator in place, took out the Muffler and the resonator at the rear near the tail pipe.

I do not get the drone too bad at all. My tail pipes exit straight out the back.

I also have the 14" Magna..

i had the same dilemma. I had a 18 inch for the past few months and couldnt hear it inside but i wanted a little more out of it so i went w the 14 si/do and i couldnt be happier, its the same great tone but louder when you get on it for sure and barely noticeable inside. id go w the 14 100%

Angle them or dump them right behind the diff & axle tubes.

magnaflow mid pipe back exhaust, 22 inch muffler 2.5 inch tails no resonators, and great tips. absolutely no drone at all. sounds great. 520 shipped. I installed mine in an hour in my driveway. Sounds a lot louder than just a 22 inch muffler alone.

If you haven't decided yet....

Take this into consideration. If you think you will ever hook up a trailer, you will HATE having the exhaust straight out the back. Nothing like hot CO blowing in your face while you are hooking up the trailer. That is one reason I love my exhaust dumping out the side. Duals look cool, but lack in practicality for me.

I ran dumps on a car of mine and I got some fumes in the cab till I sealed her all off. I would go behind the tire and kind of high mount it if you can so if you off-road with it you won't catch it coming off of something. It will keep a stock look if you ever sell it and won't limit your market. As to magnaflow, BIG A+++++ on their 14" straight through. I left my stock resonator on it, and ran magnaflow and it sounds so smooth. At idle you wouldn't know I even had an aftermarket setup on it and in overdrive it sounds like a factory truck, but when I really get on it, its nice and smooth with a super throaty sound. I really like it a lot better than the flowmasters I was considering.

Edit: And I had a buddy install my muffler and tip for me for $140 paying cash
