Default Help! 04 Hemi oil questions

04 1500 Hemi approaching90000 miles, and those are very hard miles. Thinking about mking the switch to a synthetic oil. The truck is burning through about 2 quarts of oil per change and im changing it about every 4000 miles. The truck looks leak free and runs pretty good for the abuse ive put it through. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

At this point I would not switch to a synthetic oil. It would probably burn more oil if you did. Next truck, start out with synthetic oil.

Got my truck at 51000 have 85000 and have used Synthetic since I bought it and my truck is super smooth and trouble free, also I put in 7 quarts, I take out 7, dunno why your burning it up, maybe long it in your motor. If you have blue smoke coming out of your tail pipe your burning oil, gas is black smoke.

I have 20000 miles on my 04 and I have been using mobil 1, no burning of oil noticed. After fixing O2 sensor my mileage went from 12 mpg to 17 (highway). Thats according to the computer but even if it went up 1 mpg changing the downstream o2 was worth it. I use mobil 1 in my lawn mower, motocycle, car. Everything is happy using it.

I have 200+k miles on mine..they are pretty hard miles too...use amsoil synthetics, burn a quart here and there but I'm not worried about it...

Switching to synthetic now would not be recommended. You'll see some seal leakage.

That 2 quarts is going somewhere and if you can't find any leaks, then it's going by the rings and getting burned. Check your plugs.

its never too late to switchover to synthetic. If he has sludge the synthetic will help with that. Although I would clean it out.
