Default EFan install

Finally did it. Installed a Flex-a-lite electric fan(part #294), so far it's working great. 6000cfm. Consulted with the Flex-a-lite people, and the guys at Summit regarding the alternator. Fan draws 28-36amps, wanted to make sure the alternator would handle it. Both said the fan starts up at 60% power, then ramps up so as not to be to hard on the charging system. Had to pretty much cut the shroud in half. The only reason it is needed is for mounting the overflow bottle and windshield wiper fluid reservoir. I can tell a definite difference when accelerating, truck feels alot lighter. Doesn't take as much to get it moving. The "Ass Dyno" is telling me not to start checking mileage for a week or so! Water pump started leaking as soon as I took the belt off, so it got a new one, as well as a new thermostat, new hoses, and a new serpentine belt. Truck has a little over 90K miles, so I figured it was time for some preventative maintenance.

Very clean install! Nicely done. Hopefully it'll help free up some mpg's! I can't see why it wouldn't.

Still need to clean up the fan shroud, the top hose is a little close for my comfort. Also, I had to shim the driver's side because the fan was rubbing on it. Hoping that cutting some more off the shroud will fix this. The disc in the cut-off tool exploded before I was done. Haven''t used them much, but I guess this is common. Once I am certain things are working out, I'll neaten it up a little more. Thanks.

Here's the Flex-a-lite link, and the Amazon link. Amazon had the best price I could find. I've read that some are modifying efans off the Ford Taurus. I was more comfortable getting something with a warranty and support.

I left the extra wire so I could clean it up after I knew everything worked. So far so good. You can get just the variable temp control and wire it in. You may need to wire to the AC a well so that the fan comes on when the AC is on. I still need to trim the shroud some, the cutoff disc kinda exploded on me when I was about 80% done. Shout out to Kenny, a coworker who helped me get the whole thing wired up.
