Default Quad Cab Child Seat

Does anyone here have a forward facing child seat in their quad cab? No matter which way I slice it, with the seat standing up as erect as it will, the base still hangs off the seat. What did you do to combat this? We have 2 of the most popular convertible seats on the market, and I cant get either one of them to full sit on the seat.

I have no problem with our forward facing seat. I can imagine though, not every model would be able to fit due to the dimensions. I do have to re position the front passenger seat up a few clicks to allow leg room for my daughter...(quad cab space). My next truck will be a Crew Cab! Luckily I have a good 8-10 years till she's old enough and needs more leg room in the truck!

I will post some pics today for you to see!!

Here are some pics of our set up. The front of the seat does overhang a little but unless you have the seats in a mega-cab, that's what you'll deal with. I think the seats in a CC are the same bucket seats just with a little more leg room.

My seat isn't going anywhere thought! That baby is fastened!

Heres what bothers me. This seat is setup as straight-up-and-down as it will go. You can see if you move the base towards the back, it will lift up. If you move it further forward its REALLY going to be hanging off the seat. Certainly I can move the front seats for legroom, Im just more concerned about the seat being in there properly. Ive also got a 28ish lb kid that cant step into these 40lb seats yet, but his legs are so long he also doesnt still deserve rear facing.

Also, are you using the tether behind the child's head at all?

Thanks for the pics!!!

This is exactly why just this past weekend I bought a crewcab. For the room....

Wouldn't put my kid in that seat facing forward. I'd rather she be a little uncomfortable than a unsafe. If you Google quad or space cab and carseat there are a few threads on seats with a better fit. I know some seats have an 80/20 rule but our Britax manual says that 100% of the base needs to be in contact with the seat.

Unfortunately you seem to have a really big seat, great for safety, however not RAM friendly. My wife has one like that (GRACO) in her SUV, but it fits. Hers would definitely not fit in the RAM... The only thing I can tell you is try to find one like mine that sits a bit more upright that is a little less bulky up top. I know mine isn't very bulky, but I'm def. comfortable with my seat and my daughter's safety.

(I have every strap secured, and it was a pain in the butt securing everything.)

Even with the CC, some seats would be tight. My wife's GRACO seat is huge... it barley fits in her SUV.

The seats are between QC and CC may very well be the same part numbers but the back in the QC is much more straight vertical than on the CC. That is a problem with the QC. I had a QC rental when my 13 CC was in the body shop. The way the child seats sit in them is night and day difference.

Is that a 3 in 1?

A 2 in 1 is more compact, and fits nicer.
