Default 5.7 hemi mpg!!!

OK guys,
I have a 2011 5.7L Hemi Crew Cab, 2WD, 3.55 gears and 20 inch wheels.
First the computer is off by 1 MPG (shows better than calculated).
I drive most of the week to work mixed highway/city so the avg. MPG is about 14.5 MPG (more city than Hwy).
Yesterday for the first time, I drove all in the city with plenty of lights and traffic. I noticed when sitting in traffic the MPG drops off big time. Just sitting still I burn the hell out of gas . Computer showed 13.6 at the end of the day, so with the computer off I figured I really got 12.6 to 12.9 MPG.
Today drove on the interstate from 70 to 75 MPH and seamed to avg about 19 - 20 MPG .

Is this the same situation for all the others with the same truck setup?

I have the same truck the only exception is its 4X4. I get the same MPG's and currently I am running 15.5. I did put in a CAI and have a tonneau cover. Before that I was getting something around 14.5. You are def in the norm and when I drive in track it seems that my MPG's disappear.

It's really not that your burning a ton of gas. Its simply because the EVIC keeps a running total based on miles driven and so it seems like your average is shooting down because you are not moving but the truck is running. Hand calculate your mileage, its the best way to go.

Same setup except I have 4X4 and also swapped my muffler for a flowmaster 40. Last tank was 400km (248.5 Miles) using 54.665 liters for 13.6 liters/100km or for my american friends 17.2 MPG. This was a mix of city and highway.

RT with 4:11's.... Less than a 1000 miles on the truck and I have played with the MPG almost daily. I can adjust my driving and get 14.5 - 14.9 city, stop and go... Normal city is 13.0 and the HWY is yet to be determined. I have driven one short trip with a total of 120 miles and averaged around 18 with a mix of 55 mph and 72 mph. I think I am just going to stop looking and enjoy it for what I bought it for, loooooks. I just happen to be one of those guys who can't stop trying to make it better. I think my biggest problem is the city I live in thinks we need a stop light at every intersection and that none of them need set for traffic flow. I can drive the same stretch of road, 5 to 6 miles to work with a total of 13 traffic lights and range from 12.5 mpg to 17.2 mpg depending on how the lights fall green or red. I am enjoying the truck either way!

I am the same as you, keep trying to get the most out of a tank of gas. I agree I need to stop and enjoy the truck what it is for HEMI....HEMI....HEMI!!!
We must have the same stupid light traffic controllers...Some days miss many lights the next hit everyone of them.

5.7 Hemi w/3.92 gears. 17.5-18.3 mpg mixed city and hwy. I drive it like an old man to get those numbers though, and you can subtract .5 miles per gallon from evic numbers. I'm still impressed!

posts like this make me laugh. guys go out a buy the Hemi expecting great gas mileage. before I bought the Ram, i had a 03 Durango R/T. i was getting 11 mpg in the city, while the Ram gets close to 14. you gotta remember, anything 8 cyl will be very thirsty. if you weren't prepared for that, you should've got a honda
